My questionnaire results have shown me that the majority of local cinemas offer good sound and visual quality, so the cinema, when opened, must have large screens with high standard of sound and visual quality in order to complete with local cinemas. Also the majority of people found their local cinema comfortable bases and drinks holders to the side of them. Most people I surveyed thought that their cinema had a wide variety of films which means that strobe leisure centre are showing more movies. The majority of people felt that their local cinema had below average toilet facilities and it was the joint highest factor that people felt needed improving within their local cinema. So it is important Strobe Leisure provides large, clean and working toilets to ensure people are not put off visiting the cinema due to its low standards. My final point is that most people I surveyed thought that they were not offered polite staff, so it is very important that all the staff employed by Strobe leisure that they live in, whilst only some people said that they did. This clearly means that more people will go to different Centre rather than Strobe Leisure because of their poor result; they can be polite to the customers and help them if they want more customers in the centre also they need to be many glossy posters to make the place more attractive and welcoming to customers, rather than daunting as it something be. There are four good rules which are the key to getting it right for the product. The first rule is to be market-driven, not product-driven. Market-driven businesses use market research to find out what people want I have conducted a questionnaire for my market research, in trying to find the best marketing processes for Strobe Leisure. The second rule is to get the detail of the product right. There are three things a business has to get right, 1. The design must be fit for its purpose. 2. The product name must be catchy 3. There must be a suitably broad product range to give options to all your potential customers The third rule is, know your products life cycle. All products go through the same life cycle, they are launched, and sales grow and reach maturity. Saturation is when there is no more room to expand, sales are at their peak. After that, sales start to decline and finally the product becomes obsolete. Strobe Leisure needs to have as long a sales life as possible before they have to update their cinemas. The final rule is, make your product different from the competition. This means a business has achieved the goal of their product being different to other businesses and is something people want to buy. It might be that your product has a unique design feature, a reputation for reliability or a cool brand image. If you dont have product differentiation, people think your product is the same as everyone else and will only buy it if its cheaper, which means less profit for you. I have advised Strobe Leisure to make their product as original as possible to allow them to make as much profit as possible and become established as quickly as possible. Branding means a trade name to a product or service. It also refers to developing awareness of the name. Branding is always important, but in the early days of the Internet, it was a major hot topic and tactic. Companies spent a fortune attempting to gain market awareness, no matter how much money they lost. Strobe Leisure centre should make their Branding name Simple and easy to recognize, this will help the customers to identify the Centre, for example: Nike or Microsoft. Also adds value to the business as people associated the business with quality so people will prepare to pay more. Also they could have franchise agreement with Ben and Jerry Ice cream. The main benefit to the franchise is that they are buying the rights to sell an established product this makes setting up a franchise less of a business risk than selling something brand new. The main problem is that the business can only sell the products of the franchise so the owners freedom is limited. The second thing I am going to recommend is price. There are five different Pricing strategies which Strobe Leisure can use when they use pricing. The first pricing strategy is Penetration; this is where a firm charges a very low price when the product is new to get lots of people interested in it. When this low price is below cost it is called loss leading. Once the product has become established the firm will increase the price. Strobe Leisure could use this method by selling their food and drinks at a low price to try and stop people bringing their own food and drink in the cinema. The second strategy is Skimming; is the opposite of Penetration pricing. Firms charge a high price to begin with this helps make the product desirable to people with large incomes. When the product has become established the firm will lower the price to help it become a mass-market product. This happens a lot with consumer goods based on new technology such as digital TVs. Strobe Leisure could use this method if they have exclusive showing of films for a VIP night as people will be willing to pay more money. The third strategy Destroyer pricing, is also known as predatory pricing. This is where firms charge low prices that they know are unprofitable for their competitors. Once they have driven competitors out of the market they will raise prices. The fourth strategy is Price Discrimination. This is where firms charge different prices to different consumers for the same product. A good example is cheaper rail travel for students and OAPs. Strobe Leisure could use this method by having peak and non-peak time; they will charge higher price in peak as this is the only time those people could visit the cinema. And finally the fifth strategy is Competition pricing, this is where the firm has to charge similar prices to other firms. It happens when there is lots of choice and not much product differentiation like petrol. Strobe Leisure could use this method for selling their tickets as from my market research I found cinemas sell their tickets at similar prices. It is important for Strobe Leisure to get their price right, because the price is one of the reasons why people dont go to cinema that often. The price is also what helps customers decide if they want to go there of somewhere that has cheaper prices. Strobe Leisure has to look at the prices of their competition. Although from looking at the prices from Strobe Leisure it looks like they will not be making as much profit as their competitors short term, but they will long term. Having little cheaper prices will make a big difference to the customers, the lower prices may also encourage people to visit the cinema more often, so this will help Strobe Leisure make more of a profit than its competitors. The third thing I am going to recommend is Promotion, I thought of many different ways to advertise Strobe to get it recognised, and to get people interested. To get anyone to visit Strobe Leisure cinema, Strobe Leisure needs to be advertised. There are many methods, in which Strobe Leisure can advertise, such as radio adverts, posters displayed on billboards and transport, newspaper, leaflets and national press. I found out from my questionnaire most people take notice of the television adverts. The films will be advertised in the TV but I think that Strobe Leisure should use a local newspaper as in my Market Research people said they found about their cinema in the newspaper. Strobe Leisure should have a membership card; this is offered to everyone free of charge on their first visit to Strobe Leisure Cinema. Every time a cardholder visits the cinema, they will get points to put on to their card. No points will be given if the cardholder forgets their card, because the card must be swiped into the machine to add the point on. When the cardholders get some points in his card, they will get voucher for 1 bag of sweets etc. the reason for Strobe Leisure having the point membership card is that the customers get something to encourage them to visit the cinema more often. This will increase the number of customers going to visit Strobe Leisure Cinema. The customers need to have something to encourage them to visit Strobe Leisure, as Strobe Leisure will be giving them something back. Special offers get people interested, and give them more of a reason to go there. I got this from my questionnaire; most people wanted something back for giving the cinema their custom. Strobe Leisure should not Advertise their company and deals on the radio, as this is also for people that are not local, they would not be able to get where Strobe Leisure is, so the advert would be a waste of money. Strobe Leisure should advertise in the local newspaper, and they cam include the film times in the paper as well. Strobe Leisure Should open the their Cinema in a town like London, as this is better for the customers as it will be easy for people to get to, more people will go to the cinema at the last minute. They should sell their tickets in the internet because more people use internet and it is easier to book films in the internet as I asked some people in my questionnaire. The specials offers will be short term, as the customers will get bored of them. Special offers must be changed regularly so that the customers have something new. The club card will be long term, but the deals will change, this is because the free gifts will be changed very season. Strobe Leisure cannot change location, which is long term, because it will cost too much money to move places and people might get confused if the cinema keep changing. The food will be long term; this is because new food will replace the old types and new drinks will add over the years.

Con fecha del 22 de julio de 2019, el gobierno de EE.UU. ha autorizado a ICE a deportar siguiendo este mà ©todo a cualquier indocumentado que se encuentre en cualquier punto de Estados Unidos que no pueda demostrar que lleva ms de 2 aà ±os viviendo continuamente en el paà ­s. Esto es un cambio de lo que se venà ­a aplicando, ya que hasta este momento lo ms comà ºn era aplicar la expulsià ³n inmediata, conocida en inglà ©s como expedited removal, a los detenidos en la frontera o arrestados en los 15 dà ­as siguientes a su ingreso y en 100 millas de distancia de la frontera. Causas de  expulsià ³n inmediata o expedited removal Las situaciones en las que se puede ordenar una expulsià ³n inmediata son dos: El extranjero no tiene la documentacià ³n adecuada.  El extranjero ha tergiversado, falseado o presentado informacià ³n falsa para lograr o intentar conseguir un documento, la entrada en EEUU, u otro beneficio bajo las leyes de Inmigracià ³n. Excepciones: quià ©nes no pueden ser expulsados inmediatamente en la frontera No pueden ser deportados mediante expulsià ³n inmediata; los menores  los residentes legales las personas que piden asilo y pasan una entrevista miedo de persecucià ³n creà ­ble Consecuencias de una deportacià ³n fast-track Una vez que se es expulsado, no podr regresar a EEUU por un periodo de cinco aà ±os. Adems, es posible que a ese castigo puede que se tenga que sumar el de la causa de  inadmisibilidad. Por ejemplo, si se intentà ³ ingresar con una visa falsa habr el castigo de la expulsià ³n y el de la falsedad. En casos especà ­ficos es posible pedir un perdà ³n, conocido como waiver. Pero tener en cuenta que en muchos casos tendrà ­an que pedirse dos: uno por la expulsià ³n  y otro por la causa de inadmisibilidad. En todo caso, consultar con un abogado ya que los perdones no son fciles de obtener. Aquà ­ el inspector de Inmigracià ³n autoriza al extranjero a retirar su peticià ³n de admisià ³n a los Estados Unidos. Se tendr que regresar a su paà ­s,  pero no hay expulsià ³n inmediata  (lo cual es una gran ventaja porque como se ha dicho la expulsià ³n acarrea un castigo de cinco aà ±os). En los casos de retirada de la aplicacià ³n se puede  solicitar una visa al consulado. Puede que no la apruebe, pero se sabr ms de la razà ³n y cul es el problema. (Puede ser algo tan simple como que no se puede probar satisfactoriamente que no hay intencià ³n de emigrar a Estados Unidos,trabajar sin los debidos papeles,  de tener lazos econà ³micos y familiares suficientemente fuertes en el paà ­s de residencia,  etc).   Por lo tanto, si a una persona no le dejan ingresar a EEUU lo primero que debe hacer es saber si fue expulsada o si es un caso de retirada de la aplicacià ³n.  Para ello mirar el pasaporte o/y la copia de un documento que posiblemente se ha firmado. Caso especial del Programa de exencià ³n de visa  (Visa Waiver Program, en inglà ©s) Los ciudadanos de paà ­ses en ese programa, entre los que se encuentran chilenos y espaà ±oles, pueden entrar como turistas o en visita de negocios en EEUU por un mximo de 90 dà ­as sin necesidad de pedir una visa. Si no salen del paà ­s al transcurrir los tres meses habrn violado su estatus migratorio y podrà ­an  ser deportados sin audiencia judicial y sin derecho a apelacià ³n. Flora and Ulysses by Kate DiCamillo Book Review

Flora and Ulysses by Kate DiCamillo Book Review Flora Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures would simply be the poignant story of a lonely and cynical 10-year old named Flora if it werent so funny. After all, how sad can it be when one of the main characters is a squirrel who becomes a poet after the life-changing experience of being sucked up by a giant vacuum cleaner and rescued by Flora who names him Ulysses. The more serious story of how Flora learns to cope with her parents divorce and her relationship with her mother, makes a friend, and begins to exchange hope for cynicism is brilliantly woven into the adventures of Flora and Ulysses. Summary of the Story It all starts when the next-door neighbor, Mrs. Twickham, receives a new vacuum cleaner that is so powerful that it sucks up everything in sight, indoors and out, including a squirrel, which is how Flora comes to meet Ulysses.  Getting sucked into a giant vacuum cleaner turns Ulysses into a  superhero with great strength and the ability to learn to type and write poems. As Flora Belle would say, Holy bagumba!  While Flora is thrilled with Ulysses, her mother is not and conflict ensues. As the story unfolds with the illuminated adventures of Flora and Ulysses, the reader learns that Flora is a very cynical child who expects the worst at all times. Now that her parents are divorced and she is living with her mother, Flora misses having her father around all the time. Flora and her father understand one another and share a great love for the comic book series The Illuminated Adventures of the Amazing Incandesto!, which her mother hates. Flora and her mother do not get along well. Floras mother is a romance writer, always busy trying to meet deadlines, writing what Flora calls treacle. Flora is lonely she feels abandoned by her mother and unsure of her love. It takes a master storyteller to weave the wacky story of a squirrel with superpowers with a poignant coming-of-age story, but Kate DiCamillo is up to the task. In addition to the imaginative story, the reader benefits from Kate DiCamillos love of words. Children tend to be intrigued by interesting new words and DiCamillo has a lot to share, including: â€Å"hallucination,† â€Å"malfeasance,† â€Å"unanticipated† and â€Å"mundane.† Given the story and the quality of the writing, its not surprising that DiCamillo won her second Newbery Medal for young peoples literature for Flora Ulysses. An Unusual Format While in a lot of ways the format of Flora Ulysses is like many other illustrated middle-grade novels, there are some notable exceptions.  In addition to the black and white one-page illustrations that are interspersed throughout the book, there are brief segments in which the story is told in comic-book format, with panels of sequential art and voice bubbles. For example, the book opens with a four-page comic-book style section, which introduces the vacuum cleaner and its incredible sucking power.  In addition, throughout the 231-page book, with its very short chapters (there are 68), a variety of bold typefaces are used for emphasis. A recurring phrase, in bold caps, is one Flora has adopted from her favorite comic: TERRIBLE THINGS CAN HAPPEN. Campbell now lives in California where he is both an author and an illustrator.  In addition to Flora and Ulysses, his books include Tea Party Rules by Amy Dyckman and Lesters Dreadful Sweaters, which he both wrote and illustrated and for which he received an Ezra Jack Keats New Illustrator Honor and a Golden Kite Award. In reference to illustrating Flora Ulysses, Campbell said, â€Å"This has been an expansive and joyful experience. What wonderfully oddball and charismatic characters people this story. The medicines induced a state of stupor for Tayo, in which his thoughts, memories and consciousness get lost as if in a fog. Instead of helping him they simply let him believe that he indeed is white smoke. To Tayo living or becoming white smoke is a way of escaping reality and the ugliness of the war. The people around him Essay These two poems are written about very different subjects but they both explore the theme of betrayal. In the first poem ‘Havisham’, the poet Carol Anne Duffy uses Mrs. Havisham, a fictional character from the well know novel ‘Great Expectations’ by Charles Dickens, as her extended metaphor for betrayal. In the second poem ‘Kid’ by Simon Armitage, the poet presents the theme of betrayal from a slightly different perspective using ‘Batman and Robin’ as his literary conceit. Both Havisham and Kid feature literary conceits through which the poets convey the characters thoughts to the reader. In Havisham, Duffy uses her chosen metaphor as the title. This makes the theme of betrayal known to the reader from the very start of the poem. Duffy asexualises the main character in the title through the absence of the pronoun â€Å"Mrs†. This puts extra emphasis on Mrs. Havisham’s metaphoric significance. In kid, Armitage uses the extended metaphor (Batman and Robin) to sarcastically influence the speakers’ role reversal of his childhood relationship with his stepfather who left him and his mother, to be in a relationship with another woman. Both poems use strong plosives in the opening line of the poem. Havisham starts off with the phrase â€Å"Beloved sweetheart bastard†. The repetition of the letter ‘b’ gives the poem an immediate aggressive tone and evokes anger. This phrase is also an oxymoron; the poet is expressing the characters unhealthy state of mind through the polarisation of feeling. This is a result of these two feeling, love and hate, are irreconcilable, and yet both experienced by the speaker to their extremes. Simon Armitage in kid also employs plosives to emphasise the anger and violence expressed throughout the poem examples include, â€Å"Batman, big shot† and â€Å"punching the palm of your hand†. Therefore, both poems use plosives in order to gain the same effect, emphasis on aggression and anger. Clothing is another common device used by both poets to express the characters state of mind. In Havisham the speaker seems to use clothing to convey a deeper meaning to the reader. â€Å"Loves hate behind a white veil† This oxymoron presents two overwhelming contradictory emotion. This shows that although the speaker is angry there is also a more sophisticated side to her. However in kid, the description of clothing is far less sophisticated; â€Å"now I’ve doffed that off-the-shoulder / Sherwood-forest-green and scarlet number for a pair of jeans and crew-neck jumper† . The speaker in kid evaluates his adulthood through his clothing, which shows that he does not operate well in society. The clothes that belong to childhood is the â€Å"Sherwood-forest-green and scarlet number† and the â€Å"pair of jeans and crew neck jumper† belong to adulthood. The speaker shows immaturity by describing his adulthood in terms of external virtues. This would seem fairly mundane in contrast to Havisham, which refers to clothing as part of an intelligent literary device, which subsequently has an effect on the reader. Enjambment is used in both poems, with each poet using this technique to create different effects on the reader. In Havisham, Duffy uses enjambment to build up dramatic tension in the poem. The enjambment used in Havisham goes against normal structure in poetry; â€Å"who did this / to me?†, the effect that is created by the thoughts of the speaker running over from one line to the other, emphasises the great anger felt by the speaker at this point. This use of enjambment is doubly useful, in this case as the overall effect of the enjambed lines is that the idea takes the form of a rant. Armitage creates a mood of aggression in Kid, partly caused by the structure of the poem. Kid is presented in four long periodic sentences with multiple sub-clauses, enjambed over nearly every line. One of the many examples can be seen on line one over to line two were the speaker says â€Å"when you gave the order / to grow up†. The emjabments used in kid also add to the menacing tirade in the poem. In Havisham the structure of the poem resembles that of natural speech. This results in the poem being more naturalistic. At the end of the poem Duffy uses the breakdown in rhythm, â€Å"b-b-b-breaks† to emphasise the speaker’s emotions. By adding in this caesura Duffy shows the disintegration of language, which connotes the breakdown of mind and the unstable mental state of the speaker as a result of the betrayal. Similarly in Kid, Simon Armitage also uses caesura’s to emphasise some key words and themes within the poem, â€Å"I’m taller, harder, stronger, older†. As well as adding greater emphasis to the words, the use of commas between each word breaks up the rhythm of the poem and similarly to Havisham makes the poem exceed the boundaries of normal poetry. This causes the poems to take on the form of a rant. Language devices are used in both poems to enhance the build up of tension. In Havisham, Duffy uses alliteration to build up tension and as stated above, show the unhealthy state of mind of the speaker. The example of this is â€Å"b-b-b-breaks†, this shows the feelings of the speaker mounting up inside her, and she has difficulty getting them out. Her hesitancy in this case could also allude to the speaker’s shamefulness of herself and the state she is in. Duffy also uses sibilance to enhance this effect, â€Å"Spinster, I stink†, this also could allude to the same effect as previously in which the speaker is ashamed of herself. The term spinster refers to unmarried women of marriageable age, and unlike bachelor has negative connotations. This use of sibilance crates a very real effect to the poem the reader can hear, see and smell Havisham in their mind. The assonance found in the second stanza, â€Å"cawing Nooooo at the wall†, implies that Havisham has been re-living in her mind the past events in her life, something that is often not psychologically healthy. The significant literal device found in Kid is the use of repetitive assonance which in this case is all the lines ending in ‘r’: â€Å"order wander yonder rather corner †. These assonances conjures up an ‘index finger pointing belligerently at the interlocutor’. The resulting effect is that of mounting anger and violence in the speaker. In conclusion Duffy lends pathos and a tragic dimension to her character. In order to have a tragic dimension in a character, the character needs to have experienced some sort of tragic event. For Havisham this was the betrayal which causes her to be totally self-aware. As a result this event will manifest itself in to the character of the speaker. This will cause the reader to sympathise with the speaker. In Kid, Armitage presents a character who seeks to measure himself favourably at someone else’s expense. This makes it much harder for the reader to sympathize with the speaker in Kid than in Havisham. As a result of this I feel that the speaker in Havisham is far more captivating than the one in Kid. This is mainly due to the effect the tragic event of betrayal suffered by the reader, has affected her behaviour. This in conjunction with the various stylistic and linguistic features in the poem make Havisham a more powerful and effective poem.

By putting this quote at the very first beginning of the book, "The Kite Runner", Khaled Hosseini has introduced a theme that goes throughout the story of the book, redemption. Everything has a path that leads to the final destination, sometimes there are more than one path to go. It depends on people to choose which one that suitable for them. In the book, by telling the story, the author has shown a road to redemption. Baba, Sanaubar and Amir, different characters in the book represent different types of people in reality, stories of how they would do to redeem their mistakes. Redemption, the definition of this term is a controversial subject. Through the book, the author shows his side of understanding the word. Redemption is an act of goodness from the regretful heart, from guilt of the past. A person who had made a mistake before would be corroded slowly by his regret and the pain that haunts him days by days. However, "there is a way to be good again", he may have killed a life, but he can save another life to pay back for the sin. That's how redemption simply works. People could not change the past; therefore, they would do a good thing that brings to a better future, which makes them become better people than the ones in the past. The road to redemption is not from when the person makes up for his guilt, but it starts when he feel regretful, a difficult start, and ends with a relief of redemption. The author puts characters into different situations of sins and how they try to resolve problems, as examples for his ideas of road to redemption. For instance, Baba is always an honorable man in people's eyes. They admire him for his power, they are jealous with his wealth and they love ... ...uilty feeling inside people. It is pointless for doing thousands of good things in the present when they could not change a sin in their past. Redemption can be considered as a comfort, that gives people "the illusion", a feeling of believing that they could pay back for their sins. However, it is not true; what has been done could not be inversed again. For example, Amir may have saved Sohrab's life by rescuing the boy from Assef, but that is what he does for Sohrab, not Hassan. His half-brother had still been raped by Assef, he got shot and already died. That truth is unchangeable. In fact, redemption is an action that may be kind of selfishness because most parts of redemption are all about sinners, when they try to make themselves feel better. Therefore, the author's statement of the redemption, "there is a way to be good again", is not always true.
